Born2Bond Ultra K85: Creating more sustainable bonds

Over the last 75 years, cyanoacrylates have become indispensable to many industries due to their rapid curing times and versatility. There are over 40,000 tons of cyanoacrylates produced annually today, and the market, currently worth US$2.2bn, is expected to reach US$2.6bn by 2029, largely driven by industrialisation and economic growth in Asia. They are ubiquitous, but they are also most commonly derived from petroleum. Manufacturers need viable, sustainable alternatives; the innovative development of bio-based cyanoacrylates offers a way forward. Among them is the new long chain alkyl-cyanoacrylate (bioCA) developed by Bostik, derived from castor beans.
